    Drug use while pregnant
    My daughter is currently 27 weeks pregnant and told me she had smoked marijuana for the past 2 weeks moderate to lightly, but did not before then. Will the baby, the placenta, or the meconium test positive for marijuana if she does not do anything else for the remainder of her pregnancy? She is about 5'2, and 200lbs. :mad:

    Yes, the meconium will test positive IF the facility regularly tests for drugs in the newborn. Not all do. I urge her to be honest to her practitioner about her drug use. This does not mean that the baby will be taken away from her, but rather the nursery staff will be informed as to how to treat a baby who is detoxing.

    Yes, the staff should know, it can help the baby adjust after birth much easier.
