    Crating two dacshunds together
My two dacshunds have had the run of the house with a doggy-door to a fenced backyard since we moved into this house 3 years ago. Unfortunately, they have progressively gotten worse about peeing on the floor, and I think it is time to start crating them while I am gone. My question is whether I should buy them each their own crate or get a larger one for the two of them to be together. I originally bought a second dog so that my little girl doxie, Sophie, would not be lonely while I was working. I have heard however, that they should have their own space. Any thoughts?

How long do you expect to be leaving them? One of the advantages of the crate is that it restricts the dogs activity, slowing the body down, allowing it to go longer with relieving itself. Two young dogs in the same crate even if restricted are going to spend time playing accelerating the body processes. I say 2 small crates. Dogs do love to sleep together, but I would never crate 2 of them together.
