Can drinking a lot of coffee with SUGAR cause a false positve UA?
I had a positive UA-im doing research and its saying if you had a lot of sugar in your system, that could cause a positve. Im curious.. do you believe that to be true? Also, if they resend it to the lab--would all the sugar still be in there? Because I do not want my UA to come back POSITIVE again because I have not had any alcohol in my systems for WEEKS.

Sugar plus yeast can lead to fermentation of ethanol. An example of this involving EtG was created by Thierauf (2010). To further research that phenomenon look for "endogenous ethanol." That should be low on the list however. It is probably related to environmental alcohol that you inhaled, i.e. shaving lotion, hair care products, sanitizing sprays, i.e. Lysol, mouthwash, room deodorizers (over 2000 potential sources). It could be food, fruit, fruit juices. The list is endless. Knowing the reading would allow an educated guess as to where to begin.

If they are re-testing from the same sample (another aliquot) it could go either way. Could be less or could be more.

You have posted variations of this question several times. In some you have had wine. In others you have not. Sometimes you haven't had alcohol in weeks (this thread). On other threads it's been months (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/other-...ua-578542.html)

    Which is it?
