I have a 1996 muarry lawn tractor and a spring broke and came off. I bought a new spring but I can not find where it goes.

If you can provide the exact model # we can most likely get you a diagram of the mower. It will still take a lot of detective work to find the right place. What does not work properly without the spring?

Since your second post says that it won't move, I assume that the spring has something to do with the drive belt. The model number for the mower would help a lot. But, if we can't get it then I would suggest removing the deck so you can see the drive belt routing clearly. Somewhere in the routing of the drive belt there will be a pulley that needs a spring to keep tension on the belt when the pedal is released. If you can find the pulley that moves with the pedal you should be able to find a hole or a place to clip the spring on that pulleys bracket. The other end will have to be extended in the opposite direction that the pulley moves when you push down the pedal. There should be a hole or bracket there to clip that end.

Is that confusing enough?
