Non Power Direct Vent Hot Water Tank
Hello, I am building a garage and plan on putting in a hot water tank. Since it's a garage I wanted to get the direct vent type to get the air from outisde the garage. Question is, Can I use a non powered direct vent hot water tank with vinyl siding on the outside of my garage? I didn't want it to warp the vinyl siding. Thanks.

If you run the heater vent out the roof you should have no problem with the vinyl siding. Or am I missing something here? Tom

I want to vent out the side of the garage and not through the roof.

To my way of thinking the heat will buckle and blister the vinyl siding but if the run's long enough the exhaust might be cooled down enough to not harm it. Your choice. Regards, Tom

You can vent thorugh the siding but the double walled kit runs about $290. Even then you will probably get some buckling. Follow speedballs advice and go through the roof.
