    L1 Tax Issues
    1. I reached US on 25-Dec-05 with L1 Visa in which I am suppose to work here with payment.
    2. Worked continuously from 01-Jan-06 to 31-Dec-06 except a vacation to India for the duration 01-Apr-06 to 15-Apr-06.
    3. For the period 01-Jan-06 to 15-Jun-06, I was on deputation,i.e. company pay me allowance in US + salary in my home country.
    4. Effective 16-Jun-06 I got transferred to the US office of the company to the end of the year with only US salary.
    5. The W2 form reflects only the pay made to me for the period starting 16-Jun-06

My question is that, do I need to pay tax for the entire year or only for what is reflecting in W2 form?

    Regards

    Rolex:

You must pay for the entire year's income. If you had returned home before 183 days elapsed, then the pay would NOT have been subject to U.S. taxes.

You can claim a credit for the taxes paid to India on the first half year's income.
