    Am I being haunted?
This question has probably been asked by a million people a million times, so I'm sorry if this is a bore.
I have lived in my home since I was born and I am now eighteen. A few years ago I began to experience strange happenings around the house. I would have these 'feelings' as though there was another person inside of my room with me, and I would find things in my room left in places where I didn't leave them. I would also hear strange little knocks around my room as though someone where tapping their knuckles against my furniture, and on a few occasions something would knock on my door and I would look up to see... nothing. There was also one time when something tapped on a table in the study room of my house. It was a strange tune that I can't remember and I copied it on the table, and a few seconds later it repeated its tapping. Needless to say I ran down the hallway screaming my lungs out.
Recently (over the past few months), things have become much more intense. I feel strange vibes in the study room where the weird tapping took place - they are dangerous vibes that make me want to run away, but I only feel them when I am at home alone. In my room I also feel as though there is someone there, but it isn't a dangerous feeling. It is simply the feeling that there is another person there with me. Along with there feelings, the sounds of tapping on my furniture have become more frequent, and I have heard a voice saying 'hey' as though to get my attention, but, as usual, I can't see anyone when I turn around. I have also experienced a strange screaming sound that came through my TV whilst I was on my PLaystation, and I am almost completely certaint that it was not a part of the game.
Along with these strange 'things' happening, my cat sometimes acts strange in my room. Sometimes she watches something that I can't see and she will stare at it for some time before settling down again. Other times she won't come into my room at all. She will stare inside from the doorway and will seem to hesitate, then she will get up and run off down the hallway. There have been about three times when she has been in my room and she has suddenly freaked out and jumped out and ran out of my room, but that hasn't happened for some time.
However, the most frightening happening was about three months ago when I was lying in bed in the morning, oaking up the warmth of my blankets with my radio on. Suddenly I noticed the newscaster on my radio becoming quiter and quieter until it completely faded out, and another voice faded in. It was the voice of a girl and she kept saying "please, please, please," over and over again for about minute until it faded away and the newscaster came back again. Nothing was wrong with the frequency and it was not an old radio. I have never been more afraid in my life.

Please, does anyone know what is going on? Am I being haunted? Or am I just more keen on sensing spirits? No one else in the house seems to notice anything and it seems to be only in my room apart from the study room (but only in there when I am alone). If anyone knows what this is, please help. I'm starting to get really uncomfortable with it.

In a case like yours much of it can be explained away. What you need to do is investigate what is happening for yourself. As you know your body went through many changes during the tween and teen years. One of the changes could be your more sensetive to EMF. EMF is Electro Magnetic Fields. They are produced by electronics. Headphones, TV's, radios or any electrical circuit. A radio changing frequency isn't unusual at all. We have been having increased sun spot activity and that can caus havok with electronics. As far as the voices get a recorder of some kind and leave it on. See if you hear anything. Knocking sounds can come from many things. A door that has corrosion on the hinges if moved slightly can caus this knocking sound. Also an animal that starts living in your abode can also caus the same thing. Your cat scratching on a loose floorboard can cause it also.

Bottom line is you need to investigate before you can conclude what is really going on.

Good luck and let us know if you find anything and we can try to answer it.

The first person is right evidence would be good. But if its making you scared enough to run down the hallway you shouldn't do that alone. And animals can see in a spectrum humans can't see with their eyes so your cat might actually be seeing something or just doesn't like your room. Don't provoke it. Maybe get a friend to spend a couple nights at your house show them what happens. Or stay a couple of nights not in your house come back and see if things are the same. You might just have an old house and a scared cat.

Yes, it might be a good idea to have someone stay with you... just to see what shows up, really? As none of us here are with you in your home, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to say YES or NO to your question. As someone who is almost an adult I think to a degree we have to trust your judgement when you say you feel very uncomfortable. As a member of the IBEW I have been around some crazy EMFs... and I have also been around real paranormal phenomena... and I have to say there is a difference. You know more "deep down" when something spiritual is around... as oppposed to the feeling of EMFs. But it is true, these things can be explained. But they can also be caused by spiritual interference.

I suggest, especially in your room and the study that you find a good way to record something. But, just because you can't document something does not mean it is not there. Do not try to contact anything or talk with it. If things keep getting more and more out of hand let us know and we'll take this conversation a little bit further.

Thank you, all of you. You've made me feel a little better about it all. All of that makes sense. 'Hauntinghelper,' I think you make a great point along with 'klaver012' that you can't tel lbecause you aren't in my room. I should have realised that. Sorry. And I am glad that you have worked with EMF's because it puts me at ease a little having you tell me that this may just be a matter of explainable happenings. If things do get more out of hand I will let you know. Thank you for not assuming I am some crazy loon :)

Umm... sorry to bother you again, hauntinghelper, but I just want to have some clarification. If this spirit is real, could it actually harm me? I know it might be hard to tell because you haven't experienced these things in my room, but based on what I've told you and what you're experience in your work has told you, do you think its dangerous?

    The terms "spirit" and "harm" need to be defined I believe. So a short and very general description;
I will define a spirit as an entity that is outside our power to perceive it (mostly,)
And not a disembodided human, or demonic, or angelic entity.
It seems to be aware of us and does things seemingly to draw attention to it.

Harm as in damage to the body, injuries. And harm as in fear, stress, and doubt etc.

    Maybe, but probably not

I too think that expanding and contracting of the house, it's contents ,and exteriors can be linked to a plethora of noises , knocks, bumps, moans , cries, and on and on. Especially if you expect it to be from a ghost because you can't explain it right away. Keep an open mind and turn off ghost hunters or some of the other "made for tv phenomena" that is actually hard to avoid anymore.

Write things down, try to record it, get it on video, or pics. Just this can lead to the cause.

I too have experienced paranormal events and believe they happen daily world wide.
But 90%+ are everyday things and can be explained. This is better than dealing with
Anything paranormal. It is no treat.

Keep us posted and we will do what we can to help.

Shatterme, to play off what Martini wrote, we do need to define 'spirit' and especially 'harm'. I believe YES, spirits (either good or bad) do have the ability to physically harm us. But harm can come even if it is not physical. I believe more spiritual/moral harm is done by spirits than physical... but they are capable of all of the above. There are spiritual laws at work that, as humans, we are not aware of. Why and how they act is not always known and never will be. Physical harm is not something I would worry about until it actually happens in MOST cases. Does that help you at all, or do you need more clarification?

Yes, thanks, all of you. That does help quite a bit. I see that they do need to be defined and it is not like most people tell it where they can easily cause harm. And I will try not to worry unless it happens because there isn't anything I can do until/if it happens. I wish you could tell me that it won't, but like you said, there is not way of knowing for sure. But like I said, I won't worry myself silly. I'll just see how things go as normal.

Well, if things get worse or just continue let me/us know and we can go into further talks. Not every spirit it out to choke you in your sleep. But I am very leery that it's presence will have no effect either. Let us know.
