from your grandfather? That suggests that he sold, gave, or otherwise transferred the property to someone else. It wouldn't do you any good.
If, on the other hand, when you say "from", you actually mean "to", the next question to ask is whether it was recorded. If it was recorded, title would have then been in his name at that point.
Then you would determine whether he conveyed the property to someone else. If he didn't, then you would have a chance of inheriting title. There are too many open questions here to usefully guess much further as to what the situation might be.
