At 4 weeks of age they should still be nursing. Was the mother dog not able to nurse? Have they been on formula since birth? When did you start giving them solids?

It sounds like they may be having an allergic reaction, but that's just a guess. There's no way for any of us to be able to tell you exactly what's going on.

If they're vomiting make sure that they are getting plenty of fluids. At their age they can become dehydrated very quickly. Pedialyte is safe to give and should be considered if the puppies are vomiting frequently. That is until you can get them to your vet.

How much food did you give them?

4 weeks is the right age to start weaning but we start giving just a teaspoon of food the very first time.
Then they have a regular feed off mum and then a few hours later are given another teaspoon.

You need to introduce solid foods very slowly.

Is there an emergency vet that you can call to ask questions to? We have never weened our pups at 4 weeks, but each breeder does things differently. If they are getting too much solid foods it acts like a shock to their system and can constipate them. I also agree with the allergic reaction guess. I would try to contact a vet and see if they can see the pups asap.

The are still nursing from the mom as well as having about 3 tsp per day of puppy food mixed with the formula (the mush is not thick) yes they have had the formula since birth because this was her first litter and she had 11 pups
It was too much for her on her own (all pups did survive ) the one pup that is sick seems to be very weak today and my vet's assistant called me back and said they can't see him until Monday night
Do you know how much water I should give him (with an eye dropper )

I was not sure when to start to ween them but my vet said about 3 weeks start to give them the mush (puppy food mixed with puppy formula ) they have had the formula from birth because this was the moms first litter and she had 11 pups it was too much for her to handle on her own
What age do you start to ween your pups because 4 weeks did sound very early to me as well !

There is nothing wrong with feeding boxer pups at 4 weeks with small meals. They should still be on mum between. But with so many puppies the vet has probably suggested you get the pups eating to take some of the preasure off mum. I used to breed rotties I always started to feed mine at two weeks but they still had access to mum until 6 weeks old but did not need much off mum. Glucose and water will help the sick puppy just tiny amounts as often as you can to keep him hydrayded.

If he's very weak it's likely that he's getting dehydrated. Try the pedialyte, it will do a lot more for him then just water.

This link will give you some valuable info on dehydration and how and when to administer pedialtye.

I hope your pup is doing better! We usually weened our pups at about 5 and a half to 6 weeks. Maybe that was too late, but I think what ever works for you and your pups is what is best. Our b!tches never had large litters 7 pups was the max we ever had at once. I probably would have done some sort of substitute had they had been larger litters as well. How old was the mom before she got pregnant?

Please keep up updated on the progress of the pup.
