Dimple piercing
I had my dimples pierced on both of my cheecks & now there is a raised bump on both of them. My mother-n-law keeps telling me to remove them because there keyloids? I don't want to remove them because it cost me $100 to get done. Any suggestions?

I can't imagine how those piercings must look on both cheeks ! Why your dimples?
It is ketoids by the way, and yes you will have the bumps forever unless you remove the piercings.

How long ago did you get them pierced?
What I think has happened is there's a hypo-trophic reaction which is where your body is trying to protect itself by creating hypo-trophic scarring. It can be down to what product you're using on your piercings. From my experience and a few of my friends, tea tree oil helps get rid of these. Get tea tree oil on a cotton swab and apply in the morning, wash off in the evening then re-apply then repeat the next morning, you should see results in about two weeks. I know it may be hard to resist, but don't pick at it, if there is pus or crust then simply get a cotton swab, dip into warm water and wipe away. Hope this helped!

Yes, tea oil has absolutely many uses, one of them is antibiotic, but in this case, it isn't an infection, it is scar tissue building. That is what ketoid is, scar tissue, so if she has this in her cheeks, if it builds, that will be a major change in her cheek structure and may not be attractive at all.

Without seeing her piercings, we don't know what it could be. There are many types of scar tissue. Hypertrophic scars and Keloid scars are very similar in appearance but the difference is; hypertrophic scars stay around the injury site whereas keloid scars spread and are slightly larger. The OP can go back to the piercer and ask what's happening or use tea tree oil (only if the piercing is actually healed) and sea salt soaks on fresh piercings. If there is white pus then its just the body healing itself. I had a hypertrophic scar on my nose piercing, used tea tree oil and it was absolutely fine, no bump now. Also, I used it on my anti-eyebrow piercing and that is fully healed with no bump.

Thank you for suggesting Tea Tree Oil! OMG it so worked. I am so amazed at what this product has done for those ugly bumps around my piercings on my dimples on my cheeks! People kept telling me to remove my jewerley cause I was getting keyloids. They weren't keyloids! Thanks again, really appreciate the advise!
