I want to pour concrete between the roots that stick out of the ground of a maple.
I can't cut the grass around the maple . I was wondering about pouring concrete between the many roots that are preventing the cutting and then square OFF THE SIGHT>? BAD IDEA? I WON'T BE COVERING THE ROOTS WITH CEMENT.

Nobody can cut the grass around a maple tree because of the roots. It is something gardeners and landscapers live with and learn to work around. I grow hostas around the roots of my maple; accomplished this by building up with topsoil, rather great effect; a lanscaping trick so the maple tree and roots won't be compromised.

You don't appear to be one for how something appears, you don't like the rustic look of roots and maple. If you don't like it, cut down the tree and have the stump an roots removed, but don't use cement, you will destroy a lot of the ground around and within.

Ever notice the manicured homes that have a perfect circle of ground cover under the trees? Hosta as tickle says, pachysandra, vinca are typical. They are planted out to the drip edge of the branches.

Concrete won't help if you live in a zone that freezes. The frost will just heave it up and toss it around.
