    Can a test be done and show positive for alcohol 5 to 7 day after drinking

    Numerous tests. Most of them blood tests at that time range.
    EtG/EtS testing (urinalysis) claims to detect "up to" 5 days, but that is a very dubious claim... more accurately in the range of 20-70 hours.

    Thank you very much! A counseling agency tried to tell me they could up to 5 to 7 days after drinking. I didn't think they could considering alcohol is usually out of your system in 24 hrs.

    Scot,

    You're correct that alcohol is rapidly eliminated and undetectable within 24 hours (most cases). The EtG test I mentioned looks for ethyl glucuronide, a metabolite of alcohol, that is detectable for a longer period, after the alcohol is eliminated. Given the time you mention, I imagine that is what they are referring to. Most of the agencies that order and rely on this test have no idea how it works and often misstate it's capabilities.
