Hi, my husband put up a new ceiling fan but the light does not work. The ceiling fan that he took down worked but also that light didn't work. I thought it was the ceiling fan but since it's the same problem with brand new fan what do we need to check? From time to time when the other fan was up the light would just come on. The switch is a circular dimming switch that you push to turn on and push to turn off, turn to dim. There is a separate switch for the fan. I hope this doesn't sound confusing. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thank you!

We don't know how he wired it. What colors of supply wires do you have? Typically for what it appears you have, ceiling white to fan white, dimmer lead to blue wire and switch black to fan black. The dimmer cannot be put on the fan. If it was wired with a 14/3 with power from the wall switches to the ceiling box, you should have a white, black, red and ground at the ceiling box. If it was switch looped, you may have all kinds of combinations, possible unmarked.
