What could be causing water to seep through shower floor in basement
We have a 2 year old shower/bathroom with stone tile in our basement. There seems to be some water seeping through the floor/wall line at opposite sides of the shower. It is not a lot of water but enough to keep this line wet. We also seemed to have a buildup of what appeared to be white hard calcium like substance around the insides of the drain. Any thoughts as to what this could be

Is the water along an outside wall, concrete wall meeting concrete slab?
Is there any sign of water anywhere else in the basement, especially along the edges?
What is the floor covered with, in the bath and in the rest of the basement?

The deposits in the drain are minerals, mostly calcium, but it's unusual to see them in 2 years, unless you use that shower a lot and also maybe the water in the drain stands at a high level. I assume you have a chrome grid/hair trap over it? Hopefully you have a smaller mesh hair trap over that, a cheap plastic one, because all the hair clogs pretty quickly, and you can't reach any traps or cleanouts.

I have a leaky shower drain on a basement floor. The shower is about 35 years old. [ 1 Answers ]

It looks like the drain pipe is soldered in and I suspect the gasket on the underside of the shower pan is leaking. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

What is causing water to gurgle in floor drain in basement? [ 0 Answers ]

Drain is in the laundry room but the gurgling noise is non-stop- not just when we are using water. We have a sump pump- about 10 feet away from this drain but we have never plugged it in. There is no water coming up into the basement- just gurgling down in the drain- approx 4 inches below floor.

My shower drain is raised above the shower pan by 3/16" causing standing water [ 2 Answers ]

I have a fiberglass shower stall where the bottom has either slumped or the stall was installed wrong to begin with (it has no support beneath the surface that I stand on). The drain sticks above the level line so I have about 3/16" of standing water. I cannot easily access the bottom from the...
