Standing water in sewer line what to do next??
I have had two plumbewrs out here and feel like I am getting fleeced. Last summer they used a power auger to clean out the main line and pulled back many small roots. They claimed they could not go any further when they reached about 70 feet not sure if they reached an obstrcution or something else. There is a toilet in my basement and one on the 2nd floor. I have had no back ups but the basement toilet will not do a complete flush. I have done the bucket test with basement toilet and have undone a p-rap in kitchen sink on floor above to check that it is not a vent issue and there was no change in toilet problem. I just had another plumber out here who augered and got stuck at 70 feet. There is a 2 foot high cleanout pipe oin my basement and when shinng a flashlight into it I can see standing water. I have heard that this is a problem and will eventually lead to a larger one. What is my next step? With standing water can I even have a cam put through the system? Should I have the Hydro Jet cleanout done? Please someone help me!!

Standing water in sewer line [ 6 Answers ]

I am selling my home and the buyers had the sewer line scoped. The line was replaced approximately 5 to 7 years ago. The scope indicates some standing water in the line from the clean out for about 15 feet. At that point the water resumes normal flow. I have never had any problems with back up...
