I pulled my toilets out to replace them, one is on a concrete slab the other is upstairs with a wood floor. Both have had a stone floor laid and the closet flange is recessed about 1/4 below floor level. Which when the floor was laid they did not space them up, they stacked wax rings. Now I know I need to use closet flange spacers to get roughly 1/4" above grade, the issue I am having is two fold.

Toilet #1 on concrete slab, the closet flange is not bolted down. Upon further inspection, there is a 1/2 gap around the drain pipe going down about 2-3" which is why the builder did not screw them down. To further complicate things the stone floor is laid right up to the edge of the closet flange. My questions is, what do you do if you don't have anything to fasten the closet flange too?

Toilet #2 on wood floor (2nd story) same problem but with wood, it appears the builder rough cut the hole in the wood floor to big and did not bother to fasten down the closet flange. The stone floor and wonder board were laid right up to the edge of the closet flange on this one too, so no working room.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
