    My father gave me the house, can he take it back?
    My father gave me his house in love and favour as a gift 10 yrs ago, he has free life rent in it and it was all signed over legally by a solicitor... he now says he has had a change of heart, can he get it back from me? I would love to hear of your advice.

    If its in your name and there is documentation that this wasn't by coesion then you have a legal standing to keep the home. Why has he changed his mind at this late hour?

    He probably can't get it back. Let's hope you are being a grateful and helpful child, especially if you live there together. Attending to his needs as he ages, not filling the place with a bunch of noisy messy friends, keeping it in good shape, paying the utilities and taxes. Appreciating that fact that you have a free place to live AND have a nice nest egg.

    NO ONE would have advised him to do this. There is NO good reason to do it.
