I filed 8843 form late, can I get the tax back?
Hi, I am a non-resident alien in Wisconsin, so I am supposed to get tax exemption for the first 5000$ income I earned each year, right?
I failed to file 8843 form at the end of 2009, so my income from the beginning of 2010 is taxxed. I then filed the 8843 form during July. However, I am paid by scholarship since then, which is not taxable by itself. As a result, I did not benefit from the 5000$ income exemption during 2010. Is there anyway that I can get my tax back?
Thanks very much for your professional advice.

You will need to file a tax return to receive a refund.
I assume you are an international student? As such you would be a non-resident alien for the first 5 years and you would need to file a form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ.
