Water coming in window ledge in basement.
I live in an area where it is prone to flooding 1/2 mile each direction of our house. Fortunately we are not in a flood area but the ground around our house stays wet for long periods after rain. After quite a bit of rain our window wells start to fill up with water. We have covers over the window wells, gutter drain water about 10' from foundation, sump pump works quite well, have dug window wells down about 2' and filled with gravel and the problem still persists. I was thinking of drilling holes through the basement wall about 6" below the window sill and installing a pvc pipe through the wall to the outside and having the pvc pipe drain into the sump pump. Wondering if anyone has attempted such a thing or if anyone has a better solution? Thanks

You should be OK as long as you have covers over the window wells. I seen it done like that by the basement water proofing companies. Without the covers your sump pump may be over whelmed by rain water.
Would help a lot if you piped the down spouts further away from the house.

Would be better if you piped from window well to window well and then set another sump pump in the lowest one. A lot more digging but don't particularly like the idea of intentionally bringing water from outside into the house. What happens if the electricity goes out? Your call.
