What are the Import/Duty/VAT and income taxes for a new trading company?
I'm starting an importing company which will be bringing goods into the US from SE Asia. I have a Corporation registered in the Delaware and will be shipping into California and NY/NJ. The duty for my product is exempt, but I will be liable for the VAT. How will this VAT be paid? Are there any other taxes that I should be aware of importing into the US? Once my products are in the US, I will be selling them online. Would I have to register my company with the IRS and report all sales transactions? Assuming I do, how would I be taxed and how would I pay for the tax?
