Adding someone to your house deeds
My partner can't come on a mortgage with me as he has a default on his credit file. Can I add his name to the mortgage without his financial side being taken into account or can I add his name to the deeds of the house

You can't add him to a mortgage without his credit history being considered.

And let me uncategorically say... if you put their name on a deed without them legally sharing financial responibility... you would be a complete fool.

Read through these forums and find out about people who did that and even though they paid 100% had to hand over 50% of the house or equity when the relationship went bad.

    They are legion.

If you want to be stupid now that you know what that means... then don't cry when you get taken to the cleaners later.

It CAN happen, and it DOES happen. Every day in fact.

YOU take 100% of the risk... and they have no risk and everything to gain... at your expense.

If the mortgage is in your name alone... the deed should stay in your name alone. If you want to leave it to them if something happens... do that in a Will. YOu can change a will... put their name on a Deed... and it's there until THEY have decided they got enough to sell their legal share.
