First go into Device Manager (Start > right click My Computer > select Properties > Hardware > Device Manager) Find your drive under the DVD/CD-Rom Drives and uninstall it and reboot the PC. Windows will then reinstall the generic drivers it uses for all Optical Drives. That will work if your drivers have become corrupted. There is also the possibility that your Optical Drive is not compatible with the disks you bought, Drive manufacturers often release firmware updates that includes more types of media but firmware updates can ruin the drive if you don't get the right one or the power goes out during the update, so be careful with that one. Also it's a good idea to purchase an optical drive cleaning disk to clean the laser lens. If the lens gets too dirty it can cause the drive to not read disks. Especially CD disks since they use a much larger dot burn system than Dvd disks do, and therefore are more suceptible to dirty lens problems.
