    Alaska per diem/travel?
I worked seasonally in Denali NP, Alaska summer 10 and heard that I need to claim some type of per diem on my taxes since I am not a resident of Alaska and traveled up there to work, also heard my travel expenses are deductible. Is this true and how or where on the 1040 do I claim it? I paid my own way up and for housing as well as meals while working there.

Relocation expenses are deductible only if you work full time for at least 39 weeks in your new job location. I doubt that as a seasonal employee you pass that test. As for per diem expenses - to claim any such expenses it must be because you are required to stay overnight away from your regular job location. In this case it appears your regular job location is Denali Nat'l Park, so you don't qualify for that either unless you are a regular employee of the National Park Service who normally works someplace else. So the question is: what do you do when not employed in Alaska?
