Plaster walls
Hey guys. Wondering if anyone can help? I have a couple of walls in my home that are of plaster. Well I guess they cracked from settling over the years. So every day I look at the walls and they drive me crazy. So I'm wondering is there any way to fix them other than tear them down and replace with drywall? Is there a quick patch or fix. I don't really want to tear down? The walls are wavy and cracked. Thanks

Tap on the walls with a screw driver handle. Do you hear spots that sound hollow? Most plaster is keyed into lath and if the key breaks it can cause wavy walls and bulges. This problem will always get worse each year. If the walls are solid you can skim them with plaster or even apply a fabric under the skim. |

Hello what is the best way to cover plaster wall holes about 3" big
Ok, just want to check if it is kosher to put a wall frame over top of an old plaster wall, and then drywalling over that. This would negate any removal of the plaster and lath, saving a lot of work! Also leaves it open to move wiring around, which wouldn't be possible if I just drywalled right...
Our house is over 100 years old. The walls have cracks and places where the plaster is coming loose from the wall. I would like a quick and easy cheap fix. Have any Ideas? Thank You Kyle
