    Hello s:

This isn't the place to get an appraisal. It IS the place to find out HOW to get one, though. The KEY here is CONDITION. It could mean the difference between making a fortune off the books, or just a few bucks... So, you need to get a REAL appraisal so you don't get ripped off.

Since there's no such thing as a guaranteed appraisal, you need to come up with that number yourself. It's not hard. Take the books to THREE antique dealers in your city, and ask them to make an appraisal. If they're appraised for a LOT of money, get another one from an out of town dealer.

After a little legwork, you'll KNOW what they're worth.

Ok, I lied. They're worth $14 bucks apiece.

Excon is correct about the condition of your books. We can't do any evaluating here simply because we cannot see their condition, plus none of us here is a rare/antique/collectible book dealer.

If you need names of book dealers in your area, call or visit your public library (reference desk) for help. Also, there are price guides for collectibles of all kinds including books. The library's reference department undoubtedly has one or more of them, either in a print or electronic version. If the library doesn't own a rare book price guide that you want, the library can obtain it for you through interlibrary loan, or at least have the owning library fax over copies of the appropriate pages.

Excon told you straight -- get several estimates/prices/evaluations/appraisals. The only trick after that is to find someone who wants to buy any of the books and pay what you will be asking. The library can help you with that too.
