    Why are my fish dying new tank
    I have a 5 gallon fluval chi fishtank. The fish keep dying. The nitrite level is high. Any suggestions.

    Did you cycle the tank before putting the fish in? Are you using any water conditioners? The best thing to do would be to do a water change, remove 15-20% of the water, replace with room temp water that has been treated with a product like Nutrafin Aqua plus water conditioner and a nutrafin cycle.

    I have also started using two all natural products called Melafix and Pimafix as part of my routine tank care. I also like to have lots of live plants in the tank as well. How many fish are you putting in the 5 gallon? Smaller tanks are harder to maintain as they require weekly cleanings so the tank doesn't become contaminated with the feces.

    A five gallon tank can only handle a few small fish, and I mean small around an inch. It is easier to keep a large amount of water perfect. It does not take long for a small amount of water to foul!!
