Connect flatscreen TV, roku, directv hd box and jvc home theater system
I have an RCA flatscreen (L32HD31R), a Roku, a JVC theater system (TH-C5) and a DirecTV HD receiver box. Currently, I can watch DVDs and the TV with surround sound on my TV but can't hear surround sound when I operate the Roku. The way that it is currently set up (by someone else), all the inputs on the JVC HT are already being used. Can anyone help with the configuration that will make the surround sound work for the Roku?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Have you tried swapping cords as some don't carry audio. Only video.

I am willing to change whatever I need to but I really know nothing about doing this. I have diagrams of the connections for each component and have an S-Video cord, several red/white/yellow and red/blue/green cords, HDMI cord, coaxial cables and a few other cords than I don't have a clue about, just don't know where they go. I tried to reconnect it all about a year ago and ended up without my system for a month until I finally got a friends husband to reconnect for me. LOL

You could try calling somewhere like best buy and have someone from the geek squad come over and wire it correctly.
The problem comes from not standing there to see what goes where. I believe the TV you have should have 2 HDMI inputs.
One for your digital receiver and the other one for your roku. Then connect the DVD player using rca audio inputs and a s-video input to TV. Have a digital out (if avaliable) or rca jack on TV Audio Out to your HD Theater (audio in)

Not sure if this will help, but:
TV Connections:

HDMI/DVI
HDMI
DVI Audio L and R
S Video
A/V Input 1 L and R and 2 L and R
Component Input L and R and Video
HTS Connections

Audio In(VCR) (2)
Digital In
Component Jacks (3)

Thanks so much! I will give it a shot this weekend and will try Geek Squad if I can't work it out. I really appreciate it! Didn't even think about GS! Have a great night.
