chickering baby grand piano, is it worth restoring?
I have a Chickering Baby Grand Piano, and would like to know if it's worth restoring. One key sticks; the keys are jagged; and, it doesn't stay in tune very well. Is there any value to it now, or would there be, if restored?

Chickering pianos were definitely not in the same class as Baldwin or Steinway, but were built in north America from the l800s, and disbanded around mid l900s, so yes, I would restore it, although it won't be much good if it can't carry a tune so to speak. But just for the shear beauty of a baby grand would be worth it. I can't tell you a value, an antique dealer/restorer would have to advice you on that. You could make a few dollars by giving it some time; and look into that tuning problem too.

I just hope that no one would want to turn it to a liquor bar !
