I am 30 years old and went off the pill 2 years and 3 months ago after having been on it for 3 years. My husband and I have been having unprotected sex ever since then and not once have I fallen pregnant. I do have PCOS but I am at a very healthy weight, I eat a low GI diet, and I exercise regularly (I am not underweight either). My periods are also highly irregular : every 180 days, then 30 days, then another 100 days without one, then 28 days, then 51... Some of my doctors aren't convinced PCOS is the reason I'm not ovulating regularly. So of course it is very difficult to gauge when I am ovulating regularly.

I have minimal stress in my life and I love my husband very much (good emotional stability). While its been confirmed once that he has a sperm count that is on the "lower" side, I am still very confused and frustrated as to why I have not become pregnant. There is no history in my family of infertility, nor on my husband's side. I have been to western medical specialists both in the endocinology and gynocological fields, as well as 2 naturopaths and even a native american medicine man : all with no luck! Anything I'm missing? Suggestions? Please help.

I think it is time for a complete physical for you both. Infertility clinic visit is important. Now the question about lower sperm count. How often do you have intercourse? The reason being is that most women only have 3 days in a whole month that they are actually fertile. So it is important to find out when your most fertile. At the same time, say if you have intercourse more then once in a day. Or more often then not. Then chanches are you will not get pregnant. When you know you are around your fertile time. For you and your partner to make love every other day. A day or two before your fertile time and after.

Thanks for your reply. I can't believe I forgot one of the most important factors in my situation (I have since editied my question) : about how I have very irregular periods so I don't even know when I'm ovulating. Please feel free to edit your response accordingly, if you can.

Oh, that is even a harder one. Another question for you is there any other medical condition that you have that mind cause problems becoming pregnant. There are gadgets in pharmacies which will predict your next ovulation. It will tell you when your close to ovulating. It might be expensive but check it out. Ovulating kit.

I have a similar problem. My period comes and goes and is very irregular. Some times it will be months before I get one and other times it is a short period. My doctor has put me on clomid because she says that my body is not ovulating. Clomid will make my body ovulate, so I am hoping that it works.

I would definitely refer to your OB dr. Have you done BBT temp charting? Maybe they can help you with medication to ovulate and have more regular cycles... Perhaps Clomid?

I have recently started charting my BBT again and have also recently purchased an ovulation predictor kit (thanks Jesushelper76). I also was given a three month supply of Clomid by my doctor that I plan to begin taking next month. So, I have all the 'tools' on hand - which I am grateful for - but I just wish there was a simple answer to my question, a 'magic bullet' that I'm just not seeing! Such is life, I suppose.

I think if I am not pregnant by the end of this year I will pursue IVF.

Best of luck, I am about to begin Clomid too... If I get my period after Prometrium... I haven't had a period in 70days! The doctor did forewarn that the temp charting only helps in determining patterns and charting out when you may be fertile and to be proactive the ovulation kits... So, I will be buying a lot of OD kits soon... Best of wishes... I empathize... But, just think of how worth it will be once you have that sweet baby in your arms...
