Damaged lead insert into cast iron piping, under concrete.
I am installing a subfloor using Dricore panels. When I took the old toilet out I damaged the lead insert to a degree that I have removed it to the insert. ( The pipe below is cast iron) I am assuming that I can cut out the insert to remove the remaining lead? As I mentioned I will be raising the floor by around 1" with the subfloor. How difficult are the lead (force fit) inserts to install? Or is there an alternative to the lead, which would be preferable? Thanks.

    Hi Canuk...

Understanding that we are talking about a toilet flange here, does the lead you are talking about resemble the lead in A or is it the ring of lead as in B pictured below?

    Let me know, OK?

    Hi Mark,
Maybe I should have mentioned it is the basement toilet. Doh. The cast iron is below the concrete slab.
    Thanks

Lead v.s. Cast Iron Pipe [ 2 Answers ]

I'm sure that I'm starting to become afmiliar to you folks by now, so I'll spare you the context. Lead Pipe/cast iron [ 4 Answers ]

Hi! I just removed drywall to fix a drain from a bathroom sink. I found 1.5" soft lead pipe from the p-trap to a 3" hub on the cast iron stack. Can I use some kind of coupler from the lead pipe to new plastic or do I need to replace the entire length of pipe? If I need to replace, what's a good...
