    Tax Question
    Hello.

First of all I would really like to Thank you for doing this great service!

I am an international student from India. I am on F-1 visa status and I received a W-2 form from my university as I was working as a teaching assistant during (Jan - Aug) and I am on F-1 (CPT status) working as an intern in a company and I received 1099 MISC COPY-B form. They did not deduct any federal taxes. I was in Ohio for part of the time in 2010 and part of time I was in West Virginia.. DO I have to file both state taxes?

Could you please help me what form I need to file?

You pay taxes in the states where you worked as a non-resident worker, because, as an international student, BY LAW you are NOT a resident of the state.

For the federal tax return, you will file Forms 1040NR and 8843, plus the Schedule C to report the 1099 income. The Schedule C will allow you to deduct some of your employment expenses which you could not deduct under Form W-2.

If you need professional help filing your return, email me at [email protected].
