Why would steel sewer pipe be lined with a nylon sleeve on the outer side?
Pumping main sewer. Our 225mm steel sewer main is to have a tee inserted and we have excavated and found a nylon sleeve around the pipe. Prior to cutting into the pipe I would ask what would be the need for such?

    Hi Mike:

I can't imagine why unless the cast iron drain pipe had a hole in it and they used the sleeve to cover the hole?

Could you post a picture for us?

    Let me know, OK?
