Should my dogs area smell like fish?
My little dog is smelling like fish really bad and I keep washing it but the smell won't go away. The dog is a girl. If this helps at all, we have one female cat living in the house with her and another male dog. The male dog is part lab part pit I think. Please let me know if it is a medical issue. Thanks And by the way is it bad that I'm a teenager on this site looking for answers? Is this an only adult site? Im sorry if I am not supposed to be here. Thanks a lot.

Being a teen here is fine :) We even have a teen section in "family and people".

As for your dog, no, a fishy smell is definitely not a good sign.
It could indicate infections like a urinary tract problem or even pyometra which is an infection of the uterus. Is she spayed?

No problem, I would get her to the vet as soon as you can. Don't want to make you panic, but if it is pyometra it can be deadly if left untreated.
It is easily treated though, spaying removes all infected tissue and when followed up by a course of antibiotics she will be feeling better in no time.

    Anal Glands!!

She's expressing them herself. Anal glands can smell fishy...

The only time a UTI would smell is if she peed or had any type of discharge coming from the vulva.

Have you noticed her licking her anus more then usual or scooting her rump on the carpet? If so, then its anal glands and she is trying to express them herself.

When you go to the vet, have them check her anal glands. If they're empty, then that is the smell you are smelling.. If they are full, they need to be expressed or infection CAN set in and then an abscess is next, which is not pretty.
