    Student from India on F1 since Aug-09, resident alien or non-resident alien for 2011
    I am on f1 visa from India, came to U.S in August-2009, have been here continuously since then, what is my status for tax filing for the year 2011, resident alien or non-resident alien?"

    Assuming your visa is still F-1, you are STILL an non-resident alien.

    If you have earned income in 2010, you must file Form 1040NR-EZ plus Form 8843 plus the state income tax return.

    If there is NO income, you must STILL submit Form 8843 in the two-page version which is signed and mailed to the IRS at the Austin, Texas facility.
