Can they sue me because I haven't paid my rent? I never signed a contract.
    Hi,

I moved from Nottingham to study an Engineering Course at a College in London. The company who is funding my studies agreed to pay for my rent. Therefore, I moved into a flat nearby my course.
Unfortunately the company have still not paid me anything towards my rent. Therefore, I haven't paid my Landlord anything.

I moved in in October. My rent is meant to be 400 pounds a month.

My Landlord is now threatening to both evict and sue me. I have never signed a contract.

Please can you advise me what to do?

    Thanks
    Jon

YOU entered into a contract with the landlord, not your company. Therefore YOU are responsible for the rent. Even if you did not sign a lease, you are living there and that would be enough in a court.

So yes, they can evict you and sue you for the rent.

So you have to either pay and then get the money from your company or get your company to fork over the money.

My landlord is a friend of a friend. He understood that my company were going to be paying him as I'm on only 90 pounds a week.

    Will this not change anything?

I really haven't got any money at all. I feel so let down by my company as they agreed to pay rent however, now there saying they can find me alternate accommodation. Rather than even trying to sort out the back log of payments.

    Help me please.

I wouldn't trust your company any farther than I can throw the Tower of London. Neither should any other landlord.
