Investment Deposit Certificate issued in Malaysia
My Fiancé has a investment deposit certificate issued from Malaysia and it has matured and he is out of the country and wants to add me as next of kin so that I can get the funds transferred into my account in the U.S. (then I will transfer to him upon his arrival back in the U.S.)
It's a substantial amount of money.. my question is.. what are the tax issues regarding me doing this? Will I have to pay U.S taxes? And are there any other issues I should be aware of before I commit to doing this on his behalf? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! |
