    Not Getting Pregnant.. Help.
Hello, my name is Heather. My fiancée and I have been together for 2 years now and we've been having unprotected sex for at least a year and I have not gotten pregnant. I have irregular periods so its hard to track down when I might be ovulating, we want a baby and its just very upsetting that I haven't gotten pregnant yet. We want a baby more then anything right now, and its so very upsetting, if there is anyone out there that has any advice or thinks they can help me in anyway, please feel free to e-mail me at EMAIL REMOVED Thank you so much!

    Hi Heather,

I sent a request to have your e-mail address deleted. Rules state e-mail addresses are not to be included for your own safety and to avoid any problems... :)

It is more difficult to determine ovulation when you have irregular cycles. Are they only several times a year or do they come every month but vary in how many days apart?

Have you been able to determine possible signs of ovulation, such as an increase in cervical mucus? Have you spoken to your doctor about possibly seeing if your cycles can be better regulated? Are you and your fiancé able to have sex on a pretty regular and frequent basis?

While it may take you longer than average to become pregnant, it usually can happen. Most couples will become pregnant within the first year of actively trying, and that is with regular cycles. Some will take longer and still everything is fine... just all the factors have to fall into place at the same time.

I didn't know that the rules stated that. No need to send a "request" if I didn't feel comfortable putting it on here I wouldn't have, I made a new email account just for this purpose. But thank you for your advice.

TTC--we do not condone off-site contact here. Your email has been removed, and all answers you receive will be in this thread.

I've also moved this thread from Adult Sexuality to the Pregnancy/New Motherhood thread, as you as discussing pregnancy, not implications of sexuality.

NOW--The FIRST thing you need to do is see a doctor. I'm not going to bother asking why you're okay with hooking yourselves together for life through a human life but not through marriage--though I think that's pretty stupid, personally.

You need to regulate your periods, and you need to track your ovulation. MOST couples take an average of a year to conceive. It's when it takes longer than a year that you should seek medical help. There are tests that need to be done and as I said--you NEED to track your ovulation.

Are you tracking it at all--even just taking your temperature every day? Are there any medical issues for either of you? What about medications? Do you smoke? Are you overweight at all? What about drugs? ALL of these things can have a real impact on conception. Most people don't realize this, but smoking pot affects sperm from 6 months to a year AFTER you stop smoking it. So... if he's ever had the ganja, that would be a huge factor right there.

HOW irregular are your periods? Are we talking skipping months entirely, or are you just a few days off either way every month?
