What will be my Taxable marital status?
    Hi,

I am transferred to US on Nov 7 and my wife joined me on Dec 4 in US. She has SSN. My W2 form says my taxable marital status is Single. However Turbo tax is suggesting me to choose Married filing Jointly. Can you please let me know whether I can still choose Married Filing jointly.

Yes - you can (and should) file as married if you are legally married. You will probably find that filing as Married Fling Jointly is better than Married Filing Separately. It doesn't matter that your W2 says "single," although because income tax withholding is based partially on your marital status it's likely that your employer has been taking out too much for taxes. You'll get that back as a tax refund, but you should submit an updated W4 form to your employer to fix it going forward.
