    Dog Gnawing on his legs
We have tried various things with our vet for our dog to stop gnawing on his legs.
For months now we have tried different e-collars, sprays, creams, steroids, even a biopsy to find nothing is wrong with him & nothing helps. Lastly the vet recommend it could be a nervous habit & we should see a psychiatrist? We are trying to avoid that-The dog is a lab mix & 1yr & 5 months.
We be interested if you have heard of anything like this as well as any recommendations? We are stumped what to do for him?

And last night the little fella kept getting up every 3 minutes like he couldn't get comfortable & kept licking on his legs-so he was not sleeping & I kept telling him NO! Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

If the vet hasn't found a physical problem, likely it is psychological, or he may just be bored. He may need more quality time. Unfortunately the press of modern life often not only leave the dog at home all day by itself, but cuts into the time and energy we have in the evenings and weekends. It would be great if you could find the time for a couple of hours a day at the dog park, agility, fly ball, etc. I am not going to beat up on you if you can't or give no other alternatives.

It may be expensive, but if doggy day care is available in your area, it could be a big help. If he spent most of the day in supervised play with other dogs, he might soon forget about gnawing on his leg. Maybe that is the whole problem, he needs other dogs to gnaw in it for him while he gnaws on theirs.
