Has there been any other court actions prior to this? Generally jurisdiction lies with the court that originally heard the case. And remains there as long as one of the parties continues to reside in the area. If both parties have moved, then jurisdiction usually resides where the children are legal residents.

Family Courts are less formal so you don't need an attorney. But if the other party has legal representation then you start with two strikes against you.

Summons for Pretrial Conference [ 5 Answers ]

I live in Florida and I received a Summons to appear for pretrial conference from Asset Acceptance. Do I just go to the court on the date it says? Will these people actually show up or is this a scare tactic to try and get a default judgment hoping that I don't show?
