I have a similar situation here in CA. My Ex-Wife left Ca. shortly after owing 5K in support, to go live in Reno, NV. And avoid paying. I'm a single father of two, raising both my children, and on dialysis. About a year and a half ago, the Reno Judge ordered my Ex. To pay $500 per month plus $50 for rears ($550 per month total) for six months in a row without any misses, or she would go to jail. She has been in contempt for the past 1 1/2 years, and has paid only a nominal amount of $200 per month for 8 months. This was far less that the court ordered, and when I called Reno's DA, they told me that at least she paid something. But I told the DA that the order was for $550 and they need to enforce the order. They gave me the run around saying they will not hold my Ex. In contempt if she pays something. Now six months later I have yet to receive a dime and my Ex. Owes nearly $46K. I'm pissed that the DA didn't enforce it right off the bat a year and a half ago. Now they can't find her to serve her.

When was the last time you received any money?

And you're right - if there's ANYTHING coming in, they're not going to do much. It's a catch 22; you want her to pay but if she doesn't, should the state really waste the time tracking her down and throwing her in jail, which would ultimately stop ANY payment from coming in at all?

If she files a tax return, it will be intercepted. Her driver's license will be suspended, they may also file a lien against her vehicle. There are any number of ways this will catch up to her. I know it's hard - believe me. But you'll prevail in the end.
