    Irregular periods and pregnancy.
Hi my name is shelby (age: 19). My periods are very irregular. I developed very early. I had to start wearing deoderant in 2nd grade I started my period the summer between my 4th and 5th grade year (I was 10). I am 19 now and my periods have never once been normal. Sometimes I'll have it two months in a row but never on or around the same day of the last one. I also remember a time when I was around 13 or so and I didn't have my period for about 6 months then had it for about 2 months. I was scared because it just seemed like I was losing a lot of blood. Also my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for about a year and it just won't happen. I don't know if it has to do with my irregular periods which I'm sure that don't help. My health is pretty stable that I know of. I smoke cigarettes right now but I very rarely drink only about 2 or 3 days out of the year (I'm underage). I don't use any drugs at all, I'm actually going to school for criminal justice. We have tried several things I was on birth control (depo shot) to try and get my periods straight. For pregnancy I've tried to keep track of periods to know when I'm ovulating but with such an irregular period, that seems almost impossible. I was also raped when I was very young about 2 or 3 years old on several occasions and I was wondering if that had anything to do with my inability to get pregnant so far. So any advice would be very much obliged thanks.

Have you been to the doctor? I know a lot of friends who have the same problem. They all usually went on a certain form of birth control to regulate their periods. When they wanted to become pregnant, it did take a while but was possible. I suggest going to your doctor to help manage your periods. I don't know if what happened when you were 2 would have anything to do with it, but I'd assume not. Best tell the doctor everything to put your mind at ease. Good luck!
