    Carpet blockage from chewing su
    My dog is about to have surgery on her stomach for chewing on carpet. She has had a seizure and constantly chews carpet. How dangerous is the surgery?

    Being part of a program with hundreds of young Labs and Goldens every year, I sometimes hear about surgeries like that. I don't remember any of the dogs dying. The seizures could make it more dangerous.

    I have also seen the display of stuff surgically removed from dogs at the dog guide school's vet clinic. They now have a scope allowing them to fish stuff out without surgery. Carpet chunks might not show up well enough for that.

    When it is all over, post back and let us know how she did. We can talk about making sure it doesn't happen again then. You may not be up to that now.
