Could I be pregnant?
Hi, am wondering if anyone could help me or has any advice. I have missed 3 periods and the last two 'meant to be periods' I had like a brown discharge for 2 days this was inplace of my period by how I was looking at it! I have gained a little weight in the last month this started to worry me :(... I have done 3 HMT but they all came back negative, but I was doing them when I got in from work as I would go up the chemist after work. I went to the doctors 2 days ago and he didn't say whether I could be or not he did not comment much just told me to do a urine sample and the results will be back in on 17th jan. He felt my stomach and says it feels fine and he put the stethoscope on my stomach and said there was no heart beat. But I am really worried. I have not missed any of my pills I've taken them as normal. But missing 3 periods is making me think am I or are'nt I? Does it sound like I could be and would it of been possible for the doctor to hear a heart beat if I was?
Would be grateful for anyones's advice.
Many Thanks C x

You need to take the HPT first thing in the morning. This is when the concentration of the pregnancy hormone called hCG is at its highest.
You do not mention your age, this could be a factor hormonally. You also do not mention if you are or are not having any other symptoms.

I am 20 turning 21 in feb, my sytoms are, weight gain, feeling bloated, going to the toilet more often both ways if that makes sense, I have sore breasts but only when I'm into my first week of being back on the pill. I have been very tired and around 2pm each day I could literally fall asleep at my office desk.
Does that help anymore?
Thanks for answering my question. C x

Yes, it does sound as though you may be pregnant. Now, take the HPT first thing in the morning. If it is positive, you need to schedule a prenatal visit. If it is negative you need to find out what is going on. Maybe have the doctor do a blood test to see if you are pregnant and the urine tests are not picking it up.
Since you are on the pill, I suggest you do this as soon as possible.

Thanks J_9,
I have to do a urine sample in the morning and pass it in to my doctors tomorrow and I will get the results back Wednesday. The small amount of brown discharge I've been having since missing my periods... Do you no what this could be? When I finish my pill on a Thursday night ready for my 7 day break, I normally come on.. on the Monday but have not been I've been having this brown discharge on the Wednesday. With the doctor saying my stomach feels normal and there is no heart beat of a baby is this possible that you can hear a babies heart beat through a stethiscope?. Altho I have not had any nausea could there be a chance that I am still pregnant... What other signs should I look out for?
Thanks C xx

I don't think that you can hear the heartbeat with just a stethascope, until you are several months along. (like 4) they have a special one that they use for at least the first few months. I'm not a doctor, but that is what I was told by my first doctor. And the heart moniter things they have at the store usually can't be used until you are 6-9 months along.

Well, not everyone has symptoms of being pregnant at all. The most common symptoms however are Nausea, fatigue, breast tenderness, missed period, headaches, frequent urination, etc. now not all of these symptoms, if any, will be expereinced. Every woman and every pregnancy is different. I don't start feeling pregnant until I start showing, and feeling movement. It just doesn't feel real to me until then. Of course the nausea and everything helps, hah, but then I just feel like ihave the flu. It is just different for everyone. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out

If you are trying to get pregnant, you should stop smoking now(ESP if you are pregnant) smoking can cause all sorts of difficulties in pregnancy, not to mention the probable harm to the baby. You've been on the pill this whole time that you've been missing your period? And the forms of periods you have had the past three months have been brown discharge.. you've told your doctor about the discharge? I am sorry, I don't know what to think of this part of it. You might just have to wait until Wednesday to find out. Someone else might have a better idea of what it could be... I;m a bit stumped by this one.. sorry. As far as you feeling sick and headachey after smoking, I would wager that it is something to do with smoking while on the pill. I got this quote off a health site, from googling. "Smoking cigarettes while on the pill raises the risk of very serious problems such as heart attack and stroke. The risk increases with age and heavy smoking (15 or more cigarettes per day). The problem is greatest in women over 35. Women who take the pill should not smoke!" So I would guess that is what is causing that side effect.

Thanks for the update! Let us know what the blood test says! Hopefully, if you aren't preggy, they can narrow it down quickly to what is going on with your period.
