    Remove No-Caulk Shower Drain
My shower drain in my basement leaks. Can I remove a casper no caulk shower drain from the top? And will I be able to replace it? I have minimal access from the side, but can't reach it with my hand, too tight between the concrete and fiverglass.

I fished a camera behind the drain and can see water leaking from all around the seal between the "friction ring" I think and the fiberglass. The gasket is no longer centered on the 2" pipe when looking from the top. Can I remove the drain head, reset the gasket and the drain head and seal to stop the leak?

I tried to unscrew the drain head and it does not move. Hammer and screwdriver just gouge it, maybe try harder...

    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks (sorry for the repost -trying to add photos)

    Hi Roosj...

Is it leaking from the black gasket or from the strainer assembly itself?

If it is leaking from the black gasket then that can be removed and replaced. Here, unscrew the black inner plastic ring and then take 3-4 sheetrock screws and screw them deeply into the gasket. Now, pull up on the screws and dislodge the gasket. Go to home depot or a local plumbing supply store and get a replacement gasket or even an entire no-caulk drain assembly if needed. Install properly and you would be all set.

If the strainer itself is leaking then a good plumber may be able to remove it and replace it but it will still be tricky given your situation.
