How do you cover an open stairwell?
I have an open staircase with a landing half way up in my townhouse. I want to remove the carpet throughout and install laminate. I don't want the stairs enclosed, but realize laminate can't be done on stairs while leaving them open{you can see through each step}Any suggestions are appreciated

Are the underneath treads plywood or regular stair treads? You could install new treads, stain and seal them.
