Please help me.. second time theft under 5000$ Alberta Canada - Alternative Measures
I was extremely stupid for doing this.
I was caught trying to shoplift from a mall 2 days ago, got arrested and assigned to a court date by mid Feb 2011. I know that it was extremely stupid of me and wrong, but my only excuse is that I was laid off from my job 6 months ago and seriously desperate. I know it is not an excuse for my deed, but it is my explanation.

My question is that will I be eligible for the Alternative Measures program in Alberta if this is my second time theft under 5000$ Alberta Canada as a adult? I really was in serious need and was trying to have a warm Christmas, but I blew it.. Please help me with advise, just tell me what to do.. I sincerely regret my deed and willing to do anything to avoid getting a record.

Please help me with your advise.
    Thank you
