My home is completely plumbed with CPVC piping. The house is new construction a little less than 2 years old. The pipe is FlowGold and all joints are glued together with a yellow CPVC cement. My question is:

All the valves (brass, SS, copper) in the house are actually glued to the CPVC pipe with the same yellow cement. Even the main valve coming into the house is cemented to CPVC pipe as is the copper inlet pipe into the hot water tank. Is this normal? Will this last. I have not had any leaks but am putting in a new bath in the basement and just noticed how all my other baths are connected.

Also, when running new pipe to fixtures, is there a certain distance before the valve that you reduce from 3/4" to 1/2". Thanks

Hey Skeeter,

The CPC should outlast copper or galvanized.

You may take the 1/2" branch from the 3/4" main at any point you choose. Just remember, not over three fixtures on a 1/2" branch. Good luck, Tom
