Gas furnace DS1 red light blinking?
I have a 3-year-old Goodman GDS8 furnace that is malfunctioning. It starts up working fine, but then the fan goes on and off, as does the flame. I haven't been able to document the entire cycle, but partway through heating the blower is on and there is no flame. The fans and glow plug cycle on and off, but there is no ignition. I smell no gas. On the circuit board, a red light labeled DS1 blinks at 1-second intervals.
I'd like help with identifying the problem in hopes I can either make a simple fix myself, or save a bit on technician fees since my budget is very tight due to circumstances beyond my control. Thanks.

Strangely, the problem seemed to resolve itself for a while. I turned the thermostat up a few degrees in order to purposely cause the problem to manifest. The furnace ran perfectly fine for about an hour, and then had no further problems for the past few weeks. Last night, I finally decided to replace the door panel, since there was evidently no further need to view the red light. Lo and behold! This morning, the problem surfaced again. The door panel indicates that the light blinking one flash = "system lockout (retries/recycles exceeded). What the heck is going on?

OK shut off the power to the furnace for a full minute and turn it back on. If your unit has two front panels remove the top one and observe the wiring harness. There are usually 2-3 resttable switches in this area but they are not easy to see. Some are just so small your won't think they are a switch or push botton and others are tucked along the side. I am thinking maybe a flamelimtter so look and feel along the 2-3 wires going upwardtoward a roundish plate about the size of a walnut. See if you can feel a small switch betside or even between the two wires, flip the switch or push it

Before I saw your answer it started acting up again, so I did what worked before--upped the thermostat a few degrees. It ran fine 'til just now. Having trouble finding the switches; wiring different than you describe. Will try to upload picture.

Thank you so much! Unfortunately, the warranty doesn't apply because the unit was installed by the former owner--a bank; it was a foreclosure--and they didn't register it or give me the receipt so I could do that. Checking out the 7 solutions now.

Well, that made my head spin! :-) This one refs faulty wiring http://www.fixya.com/support/t1177864-code_continous_flashing . Would faulty wiring be intermittent? I see no signs of corrosion, damaged wire insulation, etc.

Good, page 5 part 5 is a limit switch. Try to find it on your unit and there should be a very small "button" you can push in to reset it.
