Plumbing -washer backs up into toilet, shower in basement...
I noticed previous posts about this happening, we had the rooter come and that wasn't the problem... could it possibly be the vent pipe? Our home was built in the 50's...
Any ideas? The rooter came on 12/7, the pipes were all clear, and it hasn't backed up again until today (12/12/10) If it is the vent pipe, do we have to tear out the whole ceiling
? Yikes! Thanks in advance for your help!

A clogged vent wouldn't cause the washing machine, toilet and shower to completely clog up so I have to figure that the drain line actually is clogged after all.

I guess the first thing I would do is to call in another drain cleaning company or a plumbing service company and see what they think... most likely the main drain is clogged and will need to be cleared.

If the main vent is clogged or frozen it would certainly complicate matters, but it would show up more as a burping/bubbling issue... not clogged pipes.

Let us know what happens, OK?
